Privacy policy

By using ManicTime, you are agreeing to the collection and use of your personal information for the purposes of providing you our product services as described below. We will notify all active accounts of any significant changes to this policy.

Your data is never shared

  1. We will never sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal information, with or without personally identifying information. Furthermore, we will never share anonymized selections of your individual data. If we are required by law to disclose any of the information collected about you, we will attempt to provide you with notice (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email. We will independently object to overly broad requests for access to information about users of our site.
  2. You can also delete your account at any time. Deleting your account permanently deletes all your data from our database.
  3. We won't spam you. We might occasionally send one-time messages about important ManicTime news, improvements of the product and security enhancements. You will always be able to unsubscribe.
  4. Sharing of data is controlled by the administrator of the account and by default does not allow anyone in the account access to your data. No one outside of your organization will have access to any of your data.

How do we protect your data?

  1. Your data is always encrypted in transit. All requests with the ManicTime web app and client apps are encrypted with current best practice SSL configurations.
  2. Your data is always encrypted at rest. All of our storage uses volume encryption.

What information does ManicTime collect? How is it used?

To provide certain features and a better user experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to location data. The information that we request or collect will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy. We only ask and use information that is necessary to provide a good user experience:

  1. Account information - includes email address, first and last name for user identification purposes such as authentication and billing.
  2. Device information - IP, your system user name, device name, device operating system version. It is used for distinguishing you and your device

For easier recollection and for help with assigning your time to tasks and projects, ManicTime optionally records the following information:

  1. Device usage information (only when the track applications feature is enabled) - ManicTime will collect history of foreground application name, start time of use, end time of use while the track applications feature is enabled. Collected data will be used to show history of your applications and total phone usage.
  2. Location information (only when the track locations feature is enabled) - ManicTime will automatically collect your location and activities data. Collected data will be used to show history of your places (coordinates) and movement activities (in vehicle, walking, running, on bicycle).
  3. Phone calls information (only when the track phone calls feature is enabled) - ManicTime will collect history of phone calls details such as contact name, phone number, start time of call, end time of call. Collected data will be used to show history of your phone calls.

Cookies and Log Files

ManicTime.com sends a "cookie" to your computer that contains an identifier that is unique to your browser session. We use this cookie to validate your authentication, provide you with a continuous experience, and to record how our site/service is being used. It is not used for marketing purposes.

As is done with most web sites, we log each visit to each web page. A log entry can contain information typically found in the "header" of your web browser's request such as the browser type you used, your Internet Protocol address, and the date and time of day. We may also log your session identifier and the URL of a site that referred you. This log information is important for security, audit, quality improvement, as well as for monitoring the health of our service.

"Do Not Track" Signals

ManicTime does not currently support browser "do not track" requests at this time. Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked.

Third party service providers

The app does use third party services that may collect information used to identify you. We use them to provide in-app services (e.g. location, maps, logs), cloud storage services and payment processing. Privacy policy of third party service providers used by the ManicTime:

CCPA Privacy Rights

Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:

  1. Request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
  2. Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
  3. Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell the consumer's personal data.
If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

GDPR Data Protection Rights

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

  1. The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
  2. The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that we complete the information you believe is incomplete.
  3. The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  4. The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  5. The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  6. The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

Children's Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

ManicTime does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

You can delete your account at any time

We would hate to see you go, but it's an option. All your data will be deleted along with your account.
